Pool Facts LLC performs pool construction inspections to ensure your pool complies with known APSP safety standards, NEC standards and the workmanship meets acceptable standards of quality.

Even cities within the Greater Houston area vary widely in their inspection protocols. If your pool is being built outside of city limits there are no permits or inspections from the counties where you reside per Texas state law.

Our detailed pool construction inspections will eclipse any known standards of inspection for any city in the area. We cannot possibly tell you how important it is to have a construction inspection for a pool being built in Harris, Fort Bend or adjacent counties in Texas.  Builders can and will cut corners to save money. Based on previous inspections on pools built for example in 1999 in Fort Bend County, we have found gross violations of the 1987 APSP safety standards for anti-entrapment regarding the placement, separation and approved covers for suction outlets (main drains) in pools and spas.  Since 1987 APSP adopted additional standards in 2003 requiring larger drain covers to compensate for larger pumps being used in the industry.

The Virginia Graeme Baker (VGB) Pool & Spa Safety Act or VGB Law was passed by the United States Congress in December of 2007. This law was inspired by the 2002 accidental drowning death of 7-year old Virginia Graeme Baker who died as a result of becoming stuck to faulty drain cover.

Subsequently new standards were approved in 2011. ANSI/APSP/ICC-5 2011 revised standards for inground swimming pools subtle but significant changes.  In summary, new pools must be built to comply with the original 1987, 2003, VGB 2007 and 2011 standards.
